Query Fan-Out
An estimated set of related questions behind each prompt. It is generated, not observed, and Peach labels it that way.
Updated
In short. Query Fan-Out expands each prompt into about ten related questions, so "you were not named for this prompt" becomes several specific things to check. These questions are estimated by a model. Peach does not see the searches an assistant runs internally.
Estimated, not observed
When an assistant with web access answers a question, it often breaks it into several searches. Peach cannot see those. What this tab shows is a model's estimate of the related questions a buyer, or an assistant, would plausibly follow up with.
The tab is labelled Estimated query expansion for that reason. Treat it as a list of ideas grounded in your own report, not as a record of what any assistant did.
How to run it
Fan-out does not run with your check. Open the tab and press the button to generate it. Results are saved, so opening the tab again shows what you already have.
If you change your prompts afterwards, the saved results are marked as out of date and kept. You decide whether to regenerate.
The three lanes
The related questions are grouped by what you would do about them:
| Lane | What it contains | What to do about a gap |
|---|---|---|
| Phrasing | Other ways of asking the same thing | Write or adjust an article |
| Vendor checks | Questions that name a specific company | See whether you are compared with them |
| Roundups and awards | Questions about lists, rankings and publications | Get placed on that list |
A gap in a phrasing question is a writing job. A gap in a roundup question is a placement job. That is why they are separated.
What Covered, Partial and Gap mean
Each prompt gets one of three states, taken from the answers your check already collected:
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Covered | Every engine that answered named you |
| Partial | Some engines named you, some did not |
| Gap | No engine named you |
This is coverage across engines for the original prompt. The related questions are not sent to the engines, so Peach has no answer for each one individually.
What Peach can check for a related question is whether the company or publication it mentions appears in the answers you already have. That is the evidence shown beside each row.
Gaps are shown in a neutral colour, not red. A gap is the normal result for most brands, and it is what the report exists to find.
Limits
- The related questions are generated. Some will be off-target.
- A publication named in a roundup question may not exist exactly as written. The tab says "Check if you're listed", not "you are not listed".
- Results are kept in your browser for your five most recent reports.
