llms.txt Checker
Looks for /llms.txt on a site, or takes pasted text, and checks it against the proposed format.
Enter a site to fetch its /llms.txt, or paste a file to check it before you publish. It makes one request for a public page. It needs JavaScript to run; the explanation below does not.
What this checks, and what it does not
It checks
- Whether /llms.txt exists and is a text file, not the site's normal page.
- The format: exactly one "# Title" first, an optional "> summary", then "## Section" headings with "- [title](url)" links.
- Links with empty or relative addresses, and sections with no links.
It does not
- It does not open the links in the file.
- It does not check /llms-full.txt.
- It cannot tell you whether any AI engine reads the file. None has said it does.
How to read the result
llms.txt is a proposal, published at llmstxt.org, for a short markdown file that tells a language model what a site is and which pages matter. It is not a standard.
An HTML page at /llms.txt is the most common failure. It means the server answers unknown addresses with the site itself, so the file was never published.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an llms.txt?
There is no evidence yet that it changes what AI engines say. It is cheap to publish and harmless, and it is a useful exercise in stating what your site is in a few lines.
Is pasted text sent to Peach?
No. Pasted text is checked in your browser. Only the fetch-by-address mode makes a request, and that request is for a public file.
What is the "Optional" section?
A section with that exact name marks links a reader can skip when it has little room. The checker notes whether one is present.
